The Chilterns Dial-a-Ride is getting new wheels!
The Chilterns Dial-a-Ride (CDAR), the Community Benefits Society that helps people with mobility issues to get out and about and travel safely from door to door, is delighted and honoured to have received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund and from Buckinghamshire Council Community Boards to enable the purchase of two new bespoke minibuses.
The two new minibuses (one will be electric) are expected to be delivered this autumn. Both with wheelchair lifts, they will be invaluable additions to the CDAR minibus fleet, helping CDAR sustain its unique and essential transport service in the southern part of Bucks.
CDAR is experiencing steadily increasing demand for its services, especially post Covid, with well over 10,000 passenger journeys a year. The National Lottery has also helped CDAR with essential funding for operating costs, very timely after Covid.
The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK, has been awarded to over 2,000 community groups and projects across the country, enabling them to bring people together and provide the tools and support they need to better prosper and thrive.
